Great podcast overall, well-researched and genuinely engaging. But the Zoloft episode was a glaring miss. Thomas cites that 20% of American women are on antidepressants, making them the primary demographic for this drug, and then interviews zero women about their experience with it. Hard to overlook that gap on a show about how drugs affect real people.

Just discovered and listened to my first episode (Statins). Having worked in drug research (pre-clinical and development) I found the episode quite accurate and comprehensive. If you are looking for informative review of the history and the current state of our most commonly used medicines this is the place. I’m looking forward to catching up with previous episodes as well as upcoming entries.

This podcast is well researched and well written, but the host sounds like that annoying, sanctimonious, assistant principal who has just caught you smoking in the bathroom.
I’ve only listened to a few episodes, but I’m getting the sense that every episode is a story of descent into vice, and then a return to virtue, accomplished by quitting whatever drug is being profiled in the episode. “If only people were just more disciplined, and cultivated more wholesome habits!” his tone seems to say.
This is not to say that I disagree with the fact that he’s presenting, just that the way which he presents them is likely to make some listeners feel judged.
