Cold Case Files - Podcast Rankings and reviews

I pop this podcast on during my grueling silicon valley commute and it really makes the time and drive go by fast. Sometimes theyre so good i sit in the driveway just to hear the end! I enjoy Brooke and Mr Kurtis—both are great. I hope we can get more new episodes soon as Im running out of episodes!

There are so many ads and they’re some of the most annoying ads you’ll ever hear. The girl who does a lot of them is… intolerable to say the least. Additionally, you have to press the skip forward 30 sec buttons for what feels like would have to be 5 min worth of ads before you’re back to the show.

Some times I will just stop listening after being subjected to the first couple of milliseconds of the ads because they are so annoying and offensive to my ears (even knowing I can skip them it will some times make me just shut it off).

I do enjoy the show part of the show but whoever records the ads needs to go.

Stories themselves are great, but please, change narrator! Her toneless voice is so irritating, it's ruining the complete podcast. She needs to take serious lessons on how to express some feelings and excitement when she talks. Would be perfect with a decent narrator and less adds.

Updated 5 March ‘24 to add: I don’t mind the new narrator (I like her voice better than Paula’s), but the quality of the audio of her segments is not great. Lots of hiss, feels like a low bitrate or something. The interview segments are fine so I know it’s not my connection.

I don’t mind Brooke’s narration (I was a listener of her other podcast, and I like her voice better than the new gal) and am amused at the array of adjectives that she uses to describe the legendary Bill Kurtis… but what is up with the extra content lately tacked at the end? Twice as long as the episode itself! And no information in the show notes. I skip over it.

I tried to listen to this podcast, since I adore Bill Curtis and am a true crime junkie. But the amount of ads for such a small amount of story is ridiculous. Additionally, Brooke is extremely hard to listen to. She repeats things and does not enunciate her words ever. It’s like listening to someone who’s been drinking all day. Unfortunately, I doubt anything will come of this, since, based on other reviews I’ve read, the producers seem to turn a blind eye and ear to the reviews. This could be a great podcast but needs some major overhauls first.

I am a true crime podcast buff, and used to watch the Bill Curtis episodes on A&E faithfully. Brooke’s narration is a true disservice to the excellence that was Bill Curtis in this show! I start an episode, hoping that it will be one with Bill, when I hear Brooke’s voice, I immediately turn it off. After reading the other reviews, I am clearly not alone in this thought, so PLEASE record these episodes with a different narrator!
