Betrayal Weekly

I’m a huge fan of Betrayal. I’ve listened to the podcasts, watched the TV show, and genuinely love the content you guys put out. So when you ask us to leave a review, I’m going to give you an honest one. Please stop interrupting the story to promote your other shows. Please. 😂 I’m listening to the new Saskia season, completely invested in her story, and then right in the middle of it, the episode stops so you can tell me about the story involving the cop from Season 4. Then it happens again. And again. I understand marketing. I really do. You have other seasons, other shows, and you obviously want people to watch and listen to them. I have absolutely no problem with a quick promo at the beginning or end of an episode. But when you interrupt a great story two or three times during a 30–45 minute episode to promote something I’ve already been told about multiple times, it becomes obnoxious. I’m literally at the gym listening, and every time it happens I’m reaching for my phone to fast-forward because WE KNOW. 😂 We know about Season 4. We know about the TV show. We’re already fans! If someone is listening to the first 15 minutes of your podcast, they’re clearly interested. Tell them once what else you have available, and then let them enjoy the story. You asked us to leave reviews and said you read them, so here’s my honest feedback: you have a great podcast and great stories. You don’t need to oversaturate them with your own advertising. Put the promos at the beginning or end. Let the story breathe. Four stars because I genuinely love the show. This is literally the only thing keeping it from five.

Love the content and storytelling, but the ads are insane. Why are there 4+ ad breaks per episode that are 3-5 minutes long? Your 40 minute episodes are really only 15 minutes with like 20+ minutes worth of ads! THAT’S BANANAS!

I’m hooked! This is a great podcast and incredibly interesting. I actually started watching Betrayal on Hulu, and after that I went looking for the podcast because I wanted to hear even more. I’ve debated writing to you several times about a very crazy story of my own, but each time I’ve stopped myself. Maybe someday I’ll finally hit send. Until then, thank you for such a compelling podcast. I look forward to every episode and can’t wait to keep listening.

I absolutely love the content of this podcast, great storytelling, important stories. So why only 3 stars? The repetition and very slow storytelling for the sake of more time to play ads is getting absurd. Also getting money from evil corporate advertisers is ick. I get they need to make money but please fix this.

The broad statements made in season 7 don’t take into consideration there are actually times when the parents who do want the best for their children are sometimes overwritten by overly zealous medical providers. Following a reported attempt of self harm by my teen, I took her to a hospital. While there and on the way, I phoned local inpatient care facilities who all declined to admit her due to a chronic medical condition she has…too risky for them and their other patients. Upon discussion with hospital staff about next steps, they advised they would need to wait 48 hours for those same facilities to respond to their request to admit my child. When i advised i had already reached out and asked them to reach out to alternate facilities, they advised that’s not how they do it, they have to wait for an official rejection. When on day 2 of being in the ER, I asked for someone to create a safety plan with us so my child could return home safely while we explore other options for care, the staff became aggressive, assuming I wanted to take my kid out of care and put her at risk. Mind you, the care she received was being checked in on once every 4 hours and a 30 minute appointment per day with a psychologist (which my kid only used 10 minutes of). I was served papers from a cop removing my parental rights. They refused to provide me with a copy of the orders as they said they were part of my kid’s medical records to which i no longer had rights to. 2 hours later, without apology or explanation, they discharged my child to me with a safety plan because no one else wanted to admit her due to her chronic condition. There ARE times when medical professionals are overzealous. This season, thus far, feels unbalanced.

The podcast is interesting enough, but if you don’t pay to play, the amount of advertisements and marketing nonsense really makes it unpleasant to listen.
