“What could have been?” is always a fascinating topic in media, especially in cinema. Best Movies Never Made distills that idea into a must listen for movie fans (and any consumers of pop culture). Stephen and Josh (and guests) bring industry insight into the stories behind these canceled projects. The episode topics are handled with a laid back and welcoming passion for cinema, detailed analysis and history, and quality production. The idea behind the show is so simple yet clever that I’m a little jealous I didn’t think of it first. Please give them a listen and follow now!

Listen for the first time because of a Star Wars episode and then ended up listening to their entire back catalog of episodes over the next couple weeks. This is a great podcast for anyone interested in how movies get made, or better yet why they don’t. I probably would have never watched half the films discussed had they been made, but the backstory behind why they didn’t was still entertaining.

This podcast is consistently excellent. If you are even marginally interested in unmade scripts and the stories behind movies that didn’t quite get made, then you will love this podcast.

I’ve been listening for more than a year now, and the Rob Schrab two-parter is genuinely one of their finest episodes. To listen to Schrab’s struggles, heartbreaks, and victories is a marvelous emotional backbone.

Every episode of this podcast is a must listen. The hosts are perfect (and, instead of schmos like myself, are actually working writers). Subscribe immediately.

This is actually a really fun podcast and a good listen but nearly every guest is a white guy. While the stories are good and fascinating it’s not fun to listen to the usual suspects tell all-too-similar stories over and over. I get that the majority of Hollywood are white guys but I’m sure plenty of women and people of color have also not had movies made and probably have some good stories about that.
