Been binge listening for a few days now. Love the chemistry and conversation, Chuck is a hater but he always takes time and makes his arguments very sound. It’s a great listen.
One of my fave podcasts because the relationship y'all have with each other puts a smile on my face and a giggle in my soul. Plus, I've learned a lot about nerd stuff. I'm even reading Dune! 🙌
Found the podcast relatively recently from the Ahsoka show but Oh My GIF, I laughed out loud more than I have more than any other media in a long time. Van is as funny and as good of a story teller as he is a reviewer. Even when he goes off on a tangent and has to get wrestled back to the task at hand it’s guaranteed to be a good time. This is clearly a group that loves media and nerdy pop culture , loves to dissect the media they love and will give things a fair shake. I try to only listen to episodes that cover what media I’ve already consumed but the chemistry of the cast makes this one of the highlights of all of my podcasts. It really feels like hanging out with friends.
Have been listening to this podcast since it first came out and always look forward to the midnight boys’ instant reactions. Lately they seem disappointed in everything but hopefully will get back on track. Maybe adding some categories like the rewatchables would keep them from devolving into arguments? Will keep listening!
I’ve listened to the midnight boys since the beginning and loved it but it has been getting harder and harder to listen to as a woman. At some point they got too comfortable and started the locker room talk. Ten minutes on chest booty and Sydney Sweeney’s boobs? I’ve heard about porn and erections on multiple episodes now and I’m over them digging into Steve and jomi’s sex lives. Van is getting offensive. Y’all think it’s funny to rib them but as a woman it is really dehumanizing. Reign it in a little or hire a woman who can tell you when you cross the line but I signed up for comic book lore, not being objectified every single episode
For a podcast ostensibly about celebrating nerd culture, Charles spends nearly every moment of every show in the role of bitter contrarian. If you want to spend a few hours of your week listening to negative vitriol, this is the show and critic for you. The overarching theme of every take coming from Charles is “why are you spending any time watching these shows/movies/games.”
