Adrift

by Apple TV / Blanchard House

It’s the early 1970s, and a young British family is attempting to sail around the world when catastrophe strikes. The Robertsons have sold everything they own to embark on this trip. But their epic odyssey soon turns into a desperate fight for their lives in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.  Dougal and Lyn, their teenage son Douglas, 12-year-old twins Sandy and Neil, and young hitchhiker Robin find themselves hundreds of miles from land, with few supplies, no radio contact, and surrounded by sharks.  Drifting in the vast emptiness, they must rely on their instincts and harness the elements to survive. Yet even with deadly predators circling, they discover that sometimes their worst enemy is...themselves.  Adrift is an Apple Original podcast, produced by Blanchard House. What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

A great story brought to life by gifted storytellers and actors. At first, I wasn’t sure what to make of the constant flashbacks, the jumps back and forth through time, and all the background sound effects. I wondered if it was trying a little too hard to be clever. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Stick with it—you’ll quickly realize you’re in the hands of master storytellers. The payoff is absolutely worth it, and the result is one of the most compelling podcasts I’ve listened to.

I’ve been obsessed with this podcast since I heard the trailer! I’m almost done and so sad that I haven’t found anything else like it. I tell everyone I know to listen! Fascinating story and so beautifully told! Please make more!

Gap0059 · Jul 2026

I was put off by the dramatization at first but ended up really enjoying it. The sound effects and actors actually add to this podcast (in others it’s annoying and distracting.) My 9 year old and I listened together while driving or sometimes before bedtime. I would say 9 is about as young as I would recommend, not because of fear/violence/adult themes but just because I needed to pause and explain what was happening every so often…the podcast is adult in that it relies on context, slipping back and forth in time, and memory more than a young child is capable of

This is the most beautifully produced podcast I’ve ever listened to. The music and sound effects really enhance the details of the story. The interviews are insightful.
