My wife and I discovered Paso almost on accident in early 2022. We left vowing to come back again. We only just started listening to Where Wine Takes You in 2025. However, I became captivated by the way Adam transports you to Paso Robles each time. This is not just a podcast about wine, it’s about the teams behind the wines, the regions, and most of all the community which is the canvas upon which the wine grown here is displayed. Each time I listen, I am transported back to the simplistic beauty of the area, the sights and smells that delight the senses, but most of all to the kinship and camaraderie of the people. Listening each week, I feel like I know Adam personally though Ive never had the pleasure. He welcomes you in each week with an inquisitive openness and the hospitality one who truly loves his home, and his home is all of Paso Robles. But the show is not self-aggrandizing for himself as so many pods can be, it’s about using his skills and abilities as a gifted presenter and interviewer to showcase others. The interviews are so real and authentic I want to meet not just Adam but those he interviews. I want to be the one clinking glasses and saying cheers with everyone there. In fact we joined a winery’s membership (not sure if Im allowed to name drop) without ever tasting their wines after listening to one of Adam’s interview with this couple! When we got our first shipment we couldn’t wait and tried one that night and it was the first time in a long while that a wine truly blew us away. All our assumptions about their wines were validated because of how real and authentic the interview was and how descriptive they were about their wine and even their story. We had to get back to Paso again and went earlier this year but this time it did not feel like a new foreign place. It felt like returning to a hometown to see a good friend, and with good friends you just pick right up where you left off. In closing I just finished listening to ep172 on Tin City as I am flying to my parents’ place to pick up my daughter and was moved to tears by Adam’s personal story at the end. How often can you feel like you know someone only through a podcast that your emotions can be moved. Thank you for being real, for letting us into your home (Paso) and your life every week. Perhaps someday we can say cheers in person but for now I conclude by saying cheers and thank you, and I hope others can find this podcast and delight in your weekly teleporting of us to Paso Robles and the wine, people, community, and togetherness that make it so special!
I love Paso but I love more these conversations. Adam is so gifted as an interviewer and has chats that make me feel like I’m in the room with them. I’ve become a member of too many clubs now listening to this , watch out haha. Love this show, I just love Paso, and love Adam’s curiosity!
Where Wine Takes You is the real deal! I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Adam Montillo personally, and listening to him on Where Wine Takes You is like sitting down with a friend who knows how to tell a story and make you feel right at home in Paso Robles wine country. Adam is truly the voice of our wine region on the Central Coast and a fantastic storyteller. His natural warmth and curiosity bring out the best in every guest, whether it’s a winemaker, grower, or local personality. If you want to learn, laugh, and feel connected to the people behind the wines, this podcast is a must-listen. Best podcaster in the wine business!
Adam deftly steers the interviewees to talk about themselves and the stories that brought them to Paso and the world of wine. There’s no sense of it being a sales pitch disguised as a podcast—it’s just great stories with unexpected twists, like real humans have. How many interview pods do you know that are consistently funny, compelling, and above all, human? Bravo, Adam.
