I don’t rate podcasts too often, but I felt compelled to rate this one. I enjoyed every minute. This was such a wonderful surprise. I really felt that this dilemma was handled so well. The story was delivered with compassion for all the people involved, and shed light and hope on some difficult topics to discuss. Well deserved kudos is in order for this podcast. Thank you.

I’m a lifelong Mississippian and I’ve worked in mental health for a little over 11 years now. This series, especially episode 4, has been so enlightening and informative for me. The personal stories and historical narratives have been so wonderfully crafted. Excellent show!

I am really enjoying this whole story. I grew up in Mississippi and have family working at UMMC. Honest, respectful and intriguing presentation of a very complex story. Thank you for the time and effort in collecting all these perspectives. You are a very talented writer and researcher. So many of the dynamics and nuances of these families was so familiar.

Just as another reviewer said, there is condescension towards Mississippi and “the Deep South” to an unnecessary degree. The vocal fry of this woman hurts my AirPods. I am a transplant to Mississippi from New Orleans. I don’t feel superior, although the customs are quite different here. I would’ve enjoyed this much more if this podcaster had been able to keep to the facts and stop with her sarcastic opinions. I’m a psychiatrist and I am deeply interested in what happened to these people at the old asylum. Everyone I worked with cared about the patients and the history. I worked at Mississippi State Hospital.
