Welcome to The Weirdness… Middle-schoolers Arlo and Sierra host a podcast dedicated to exploring unexplained phenomena like the Loch Ness Monster, the yeti and the chupacabra. But they’ve never actually witnessed any of it—until they track down an unusual caller who turns out to be none other than Bigfoot himself. Turns out, the Weirdness is real, and it’s everywhere! Arlo, Sierra, and Bigfoot (aka Beef) set off on a mind-blowing adventure across the globe to find out why the creatures of legends are disappearing. it’s june again, so i’ve come back to this show to celebrate pride. why do these two things go together? because this entire show is about not conforming and not being “normal.” the “i’m weird and i love it” is such a good line, especially as someone who recently came out as transgender. to all other kids like me listening, you are worthy of love. have a wonderful pride ❤️🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ this is my own subjective analysis, so feel free to share your own opinions. i can also see “weirdness” as a metaphor for disability/neurodivergence (especially autism, which i myself have)
Love the story, but I dislike the character of Arlo. He’s pretty selfish throughout the story, never listening to Sierra or what she wants to do or say. Every time she tried to tell him who she was, something she told him was important, he’d always interrupt her with some awful speech rather than actually listen to her. And it didn’t feel like he really got any character growth either. But oh well. I love Beef, so that pretty much makes up for it.
My kids and I recently discovered this podcast and have been burning through episodes on our long commute to school in the mornings. We love the plot and find ourselves laughing out loud at the silliness. Perfect balance of mystery and comedy.
I am already obsessed!!!! The first episode has a HUGE cliffhanger. And I’m so excited to find out about Sierras dad and about her knowing what big foot said!!!! If you like the following you will probably like this, Six Minutes, Becoming Mother Nature, Remy’s Life Interrupted. I can’t wait for the rest of the episodes.
