The Weird Tales Podcast

There are plenty of podcasts today, that offer stories of the weird and eerie, but the consistency of the excellent selections that are here cannot be matched. I’m very lucky that I stumbled across this podcast and I recommend it highly to my friends and family.

Tycho remains the hardest working, most lovable human in podcastland. A terrific weird tales writer too. This is amateur podcasting in the best sense, podcasting done for the love of it (Lat. *amare*, to love). I have discovered many stories on this show, and experienced in full others I'd only heard about. For example, William Hope Hodgson's *The House on the Borderland*, a novel I would have never read on my own. I would not say it's a "good" novel, though there are wonderful elements to it. But I'm immensely grateful to Tycho for bringing me through it. Also amazing: his promotion of diverse writers, his heroic “October project,” and his trips into weird poetry. “Annabelle Lee” forever, my friend!

This podcast is made up of high-quality readings of exactly the kinds of short fiction I’m always looking for - ghost stories, weird sci fi, poetic fantasy, and tales of Lovecraftian strangeness. (The selections rarely include body horror, and I appreciate that.) In addition to short stories, the podcaster, who is a professional voice actor, offers some longer works read across multiple episodes. There’s also poetry that fits the genre(s) and although I generally don’t listen to those episodes I appreciate the unusual offering. The podcast player I use doesn’t support reviews, so I came over to Apple podcasts to submit one, something I rarely bother doing. This podcast is great! Thanks for the hours of amusement!

Absolutely great podcast. Glad there are no sponsors or commercials. You can tell tycho is passionate about reading and narration. Constructive criticism incoming: Hey man it would be cool if you could record some bookends for your episodes. Some intros and outros. It would be nice to know when the episode is over so we can tell when to pause it and so on. When I was listening to the willows I actually listened to it backwards lol. Keep up the good work brother.
