I love hearing Hunter’s perspective, because it helps me understand the frame of reference through which a non-medically trained person views healthcare from. Hunter has it spot-on in most things, but there is one thing I would caution. Beware of overly confident doctors (Park the Shark). They may be very good at what they do, but all doctors’ patients will have complications. It is inevitable. The overly confident doctors tend to be great when things are going well, but tend to be… less involved when things aren’t. And that is when you need them the most. This is twenty years of experience talking.

Love the recap/insights and the crew interviews. You ask great questions, and the pace is perfect. I look forward to listening after each episode. Thanks!

Thanks for this podcast. It is awesome! The show is fantastic and I love your plan to dig into the details. While I’m guessing most people never want to find themselves in an ED, I would bet that most people, like me, are fascinated by what goes on there! Ultimately, these are stories about people, and I am so glad “The Pitt” and your podcast show the daily heroism of these trauma doctors and nurses and also their struggles and breakdowns. This is a show about humanity doing its best, and this podcast shares that with all of us. Plus, I’m from Pittsburgh! I know all of the outside places, and I worship and volunteer a block from Allegheny General Hospital (PTMC in the show), so I am there all of the time! I love the Pittsburgh references, although the show needs some more “Yinzers” — real Pittsburghers who speak our unique PITTSBURGHESE dialect, n’at! 😀 🖤💛

The editing and audio on the first episode is rough, especially compared to other HBO aftershows, but it gets better! In fits & starts, but better, and the access to all these personalities and doctors is unbeatable. Give it a listen, I think. Watching The Pitt cured me of hypochondria and is treating hypochondriaphobia!!

The hosts are… not great, their coverage lacks depth or insight beyond recap which is surprising considering one is an actual doctor. The interviews with cast and crew should salvage the show somewhat, but again the host aren’t adept at leading conversation, so interviews are also lackluster. Official HBO podcasts generally have pretty high standards, this show simply doesn’t live up to that.
