Been a listener for quite awhile now, and I appreciate this podcast so much. Being a pro artist is a lonely business for most of the year (outside of show season), and I love hearing from some who “gets” the artist life while I’m out on a walk or painting in the studio. Love the humble, authentic approach that Laura brings- she’s sharing her insights instead of browbeating. Thank you for continuing this podcast- it really is an encouragement to your listeners!

I wish I could put into adequate words how great this podcast truly is! There is such a heartwarming experience to be had when you listen to these two, very authentic, people. Laura and Ritchie are blazing a trail in this world by journeying simply in this life; striving to be ordinary and in doing so they are setting an example of what truly matters and that is people and connection! In experimenting with social media, for example, they are finding joy in reverting back to less time consuming techniques because one of the priorities in their lives is creating space. Space to create art, space to spend time with loved ones, space to spend time in their garden and space to connect; whether it be within their own soul or over tea with a friend. Community is vital to our existence which means sojourning with one another needs to be our default; our priority. These two lovely people elegantly refuse to give into the pressures that society and social media shout at us sometimes. The world does not get to decide the algorithm of our lives….we do!
What’s crazy about all this is that before listening to this podcast, I had decided to firmly not give in to the social media algorithm and pretty much present my art (for the first time at age 46) as is and with what I already had available, which is my phone. It is so much less stressful than the countless other stories I have heard. Being ordinary and authentic works! I sold two paintings within a week. Am I 100% skilled and where I want to be as an artist? No….. I am in process and forever will be. What matters here is the journey. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Someone will want your art at the place you are at right now. It will still speak to the soul of another person when it is time for it to no matter the part of the journey you are on. This podcast validated my decision and encourages this from so many angles; acting as a sort of cheerleader to us all as we sojourn together planting seeds of inspiration all along the way. Laura and Ritchie, you are such gifts to us all! Thank you for all you do!

I’m finding that I’m drawn to podcasts that are conversational, that are informative without necessarily having to specifically learn something (although I always do). I love Laura and her husband’s weekly format. It feels like we’re just sitting down to have a chat, while throwing in life and art snippets - what’s working, what’s maybe not, how running a business can be great but also challenging…
It’s just really lovely (and actually calming) to listen too.

Thank you, Laura and Richie, for providing such a warm and cozy podcast that's really inspiring and offers so much helpful information. I have been an online student of yours since 2018 and really like your style and your methods. I only became aware of the podcast this year. I understand you have made some format changes but as a new listener, this is exactly what I was looking for. Warm, honest, informal, and real.
