I love this podcast, admittedly, it includes a lot more than just plant molecular biology, but I enjoy the other segments just as much. Also, I know it has been stated before by others, but even tho the hosts are cat people, they seem to be confused on exactly what qualifies as a cat. As a dog person, I am ok with this mix up. I recommend starting this podcast from the beginning, it will make much more sense than if you start at their latest episode or somewhere in the middle.
Really appreciate this pod. It is such a pleasant experience having other people do the heavy lifting of interpreting and digesting science writing for me - all I have to do is sit back, cook dinner, and listen. I’ve learned quite a lot and it’s been gratifying to watch Joram and Tegan grow as hosts. Thanks and good luck you two!
I gotta say, I love this podcast. There aren’t many science based plant podcasts out there and this is a great one. The hosts have great chemistry and they are very entertaining. I love when they talk discuss their paper of the week. Keep up. I will keep listening. The website is great too. If y’all make merch, l would def buy some!
Plants and pipettes is a great podcast that analyzes current plant biology research. I can’t speak for everyone but it can take me hours, even days, to fully grasp a research paper and plants and pipettes breaks down everything for you. Unlike Science Friday (NPR), I truly feel as though plants and pipettes has a handle on GOOD science. I also appreciate their honesty like when they said “I don’t look too heavily in the methods unless I’m trying to recreate the experiment myself”. There is certain language in the podcast that may not make sense to everyone. For example: Downstream, Kinases, Phosphorylation, Etc. Plants and pipettes defines these terms but not all terms. As a student studying plant biology I don’t dabble too much into fields I’m not particularly interested in so this may be a problem if I’m not familiar with a particular plant biology topic. This podcast is something that will get plant enthusiasts more in tune with plant biology and hopefully make more people appreciate plants.
