One of my friend’s parents calls me his long lost friend. He’s calm, alive, funny, skeptical, and most importantly, completely human. Occasionally, “intelligence” or being “learned” can be embarrassing or difficult, but this podcast opens the parts of the mind that we are rarely able to flourish with appreciable conversations and human connections. Absolutely been loving almost every ep so far, but the conversation with Adam Grant gives you the feeling of the deepest and most comfortable breath. Puts you where you should be, a place you missed, even though you forgot you belonged there. 200/10, rec.

David allows guests to speak, which is lovely. However, his ability to gently guide the guests - thereby fulfilling the storytelling purpose of the show - is not fully developed. For example, the Griffin Dunne interview felt like a generic book tour interiview. At some point, I forgot what podcast I was listening to because the focus had become so broad and dilute. I hope David continues to develop the show and his ability to listen and guide as an Editor, not just a fan.

I love DD’s honesty and vulnerability. He really connects with his interviewees and they get real and go deep. Former Fox Mulder fan girl here loves this new iteration of Duchovny.

There is such an inundation of podcasts today that I am so reluctant to seek out or try anything beyond my tried and true. But I have to say, Mr Duchovny’s podcast is really compelling. I can’t tell if it’s his intelligence, self deprecating humor, vast repertoire of stories, but I am absolutely charmed. Thank you!
