This is an excellent introduction to the teachings of the Buddha presented in clear and accessible language. Unlike many Buddhist podcasts, this one is practical rather than aspirational, and is a very useful guide and how to start and build a practice. I always thought the goal of the path was enlightenment, but now I know it's enlight-a-ment!
David Roylance is well spoken and direct in his presentation of the Buddha’s teachings. I like to mix it up, sometimes listening to a class on the Pali canon and sometimes taking a weeklong retreat. David’s approach is what I’ve been looking for for many years.
Great resource for answering many of life’s questions and why we struggle with relationships, fears, addictions, and anger. Learn why cravings, desires and attachment are a poison to you, and how to cure it with generosity. Why your life will get better when you let go of anger and embrace kindness. Not to mention the wisdom of true love, as opposed to conditional love that everyone thinks is love. The book is amazing, the classes and podcast are worth the time and effort.
David is an amazing teacher and extremely knowledgeable of The Teachings. He is also very open and available to those who want to learn.
I don’t mind that he is self-taught and achieved his enlightenment on his own. However, there is a very good reason that monks often wait a decade or more after ordination before being permitted to give Dhamma talks. David’s hurried speaking is a symptom of a lack of maturity in the Dhamma and quite off-putting for those used to Dhamma talks and lectures given by monks or trained laypeople. I believe that he means well and may be knowledgeable, but listeners should be wary of his self-aggrandizement and apparent lack of peace and joy. Listening to him, can you even imagine him smiling a single time? He sounds stressed and hurried.
