For me the ending spoiled the series. Without spoilers I’ll just say that the series feels like its building up to something bigger and while the payoff is much much better than say Borrasca, I still felt I was let down based on the earlier set up. I think for me the issue isn’t that the ending doesn’t fit or sufficiently explain things, rather it feels rushed, almost like the podcast was cancelled and they had to wrap up the story in 1-2 episodes. It could have benefited from spreading the “punch line” out over a few more episodes
I would not recommend this. It wasn’t awful, but also nothing to write home about. My biggest issue is that they spend the first 6 episodes not really explaining anything. There were plenty of times where I had no clue what was going on or why characters were doing what they were doing. Then the final episode is pretty much just an exposition dump. It provides an answer for every mystery thus far, and I don’t think a good horror or mystery podcast should do that, and certainly not all in the final episode. Also, the title is not representative of the podcast. There are really only two entities that could be called cryptids, and even then cryptid is not what I’d personally use to describe them. Based on the title, I was expecting the story to actually involve multiple known cryptids, but other than a few name drops it does not.
I'm really enjoying this podcast. This is the first audiodrama that I've tried and I'm glad I did. The story is very interesting and the performances are impressive.
Absolutely phenomenal podcast! It’s funny, smart, spooky, eerie, emotional, and zany. The world building is fantastic. Binged it all in 2 days. The cast is brilliant as well as the production. So happy I listened!!!
