When the mysterious deep space research vessel USCSS Maginot crash-lands on Earth, “Wendy” (Sydney Chandler) and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat in FX’s Alien: Earth premiering 8.12 on FX | Hulu. Join host Adam Rogers in this exclusive companion podcast as he sits down with Noah Hawley, cast, and crew to discuss the story, humanity, machines, and monsters. In the year 2120, the Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. In this Corporate Era, cyborgs (humans with both biological and artificial parts) and synthetics (humanoid robots with artificial intelligence) exist alongside humans. But the game is changed when the wunderkind Founder and CEO of Prodigy Corporation unlocks a new technological advancement: hybrids (humanoid robots infused with human consciousness). The first hybrid prototype named “Wendy” marks a new dawn in the race for immortality. After Weyland-Yutani’s spaceship collides into Prodigy City, “Wendy” and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined. The podcast deepened my understanding and appreciation of every aspect of the show, from acting to directing to set and sound design and much more.
The podcast is a great companion to the series. I love how it fits into the storyline, introducing all the characters while also advancing to reveal potential developments. As a long-time fan of the Alien series, I'm really enjoying this adaptation. It's one of the best so far, expanding the universe in many ways and tying together all the great characters and storylines. I believe this series has a good chance of lasting multiple seasons because it has plenty of room to develop the world further. One thing I especially appreciate is how it makes me value the prequel stories more and shows the potential for this universe to evolve.
This podcast is top-notch because the host Adam asks excellent questions and then gets out of the way so the person being interviewed can answer.
Intelligent and timely and faithful to the ALIENverse. After James Cameron’s ALIENS blew my doors off with a war film, I really wanted the backstory of how the evil corporate oligarchs THE COMPANY. Maybe it was my hitch in The Navy that turned me into a cynic but the real big bad monster can be humanity. Noah Hawley’s adaptation on HULU and FX has created more questions than answers for me - and I love it!
