What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

Easily one of the best college football podcasts you can find right now. The guys offer a great balance of insight and humor.

OurNewProgress · Aug 2026

This is the best college football podcast around. Ty and Dan are knowledgable but they keep it really fun as well. The mix of their personalities is great as well. It’s a must-listen for me.

RedbirdCraig · Aug 2026

10+ year Listener! I keep coming back because these guys found the rare middle of the Venn diagram of thoughtful, insightful, fun, irreverent, and serious about their craft.

Carl12538 · Aug 2026

The Solid Verbal is a rare combination of college football expertise with plenty of humor, often self-deprecating. I find it to be a scintillating listen.* “Bernie’s Big Words, not a sponsor, could be a sponsor!

This show was in my regular rotation for a long time. It was never really my favorite pod, but it was good enough that I listened to every new episode when they dropped. I'd say top 3-4 for a long time. I finally removed it from my rotation and it's been a long time coming. Dan has become insufferable with his comments and how he rates teams. It's so obvious who his favorites are and who he doesn't like and it permeates and overshadows most of the commentary on the show. If you're a team he likes and do bad, he'll search so hard for a silver lining. If you're a team he dislikes and you win well, he won't give you any credit and will explain how that win actually isn't impressive. It's mind numbing. If you're looking for any sort of objective CFB analysis. There is 0 objectivity from him. I love Ty. He does a good job of looking at things more objectively and being much less biased when discussing how various teams performed. The issue? Dan will constantly interject into Ty's commentary with his asinine comments to explain to Ty why X team is actually really good or really bad. Completely removing all nuance from the discussion. It's finally annoyed me enough that I've stopped listening after about 5 years of listening to every pod put out. If you care about actual insightful discussion of the top teams in college football, go somewhere else. If you want silly humor and to hear about Dan's select favorite college football teams, then this is the pod for you.
