Longtime listener, first time caller. The momentous occasion of your 100th show prompted me to write this review. Thank you all for everything you have done to enhance my fandom and that of all your listeners. You all are doing a great show. One highlight for me that you didn’t discuss during your 100th show was the group’s discussion of American Baby Intro’s return to live shows. Hearing Jeanette and Trisha talk about how the song made them feel gave me a perspective on the song that I did not have before that. Just beautiful stuff. I’ve enjoyed all of your different formats, but especially the album reviews and the song debates. If I could be so bold as to suggest a topic: can the group discuss the many ways #41 has evolved in a live setting, and maybe disabuse me of the notion that the guitar solo is evidence that the song right now has lost its way a bit? Love the show.
Just finished listening to the 100th episode of TPTJL. You guys are the best! Thanks for all you do to graciously give of your time, talents, passion and expertise of a band that means so much to so many. I love the interplay and perspectives of all of you. In fact, I love that you closed this episode by highlighting the contributions of Jeanette and Trisha. Matt and Shawn, you both seem like such good dudes that I would absolutely love to hang with. Your knowledge and love of this band makes me feel seen (as a fellow dude). That said, I’m so grateful that this podcast isn’t just guys talking about this band. What makes this podcast so enjoyable is the unique and equitable contributions each of you provides. I’ve been attending DMB shows with my wife, sister and her husband since 1995. I can’t effectively put into words how much they mean to us. Every year we travel from the Chicago suburbs to see DMB at Creekend. It is routinely the most meaningful few days of my year. My sister got diagnosed with breast cancer last December and just finished chemo treatment last week. Her surgery is next week and if recovery is smooth we will be there at Creekend in July. We’d love to meet you if you’re there. Whether you are or not, just know that all four of you have elevated / accentuated the joy this band had already provided us all these years. Whether I’m listening while working on the lawn, taking a walk in the neighborhood, or driving in the car, y’all have made me feel like we’re friends. Keep doing what you’re doing and know that your efforts, authenticity and impact and deeply meaningful and appreciated!
If this podcast had a fan club, I would join. Matt, Trisha, Jeanette, and Shawn are great hosts. They are my new best friends that I've never met. The podcast is smart, funny, warm, and endlessly entertaining. The production quality is top-tier, the banter is effortless, and the topics are always fresh and engaging.
There are tons of different options when it comes to podcasts and several when it comes to Dave Matthews Band podcasts. But, The Pod that Jane Likes truly separates itself from the pack. There is such a diversity and variety of opinion present in the pod. No one wants to listen to an echo chamber with two people just agreeing with each other. With this podcast, you are definitely getting a bunch of different views in each episode. Shawn, Trisha, Jeanette and Matt all have unique and different takes and that is what makes this podcast so special. By the end of your first episode, you will be hooked! And you will have a personality or two you agree with more than the others. Every episode is unique and filled with exactly what a nerdy DMB fan wants to hear more about. There are episodes with album breakdowns, and some with setlist breakdowns and stats, and some previewing tours or reviewing performances during certain eras of DMB, and there are several episodes in which we hear about which experiences are DMB-fan must do’s. All of these are engaging discussions that leaving you wanting to chime in with your opinion! We truly get an insight into what DMB culture is all about with each episode and if you’re a DMB fan, you’ll relate to a lot of the experiences we hear about. You also may be inspired to travel or undergo more DMB experience, like I was after Deer Creek won the “best lawn” award on the pod! I can’t recommend this pod enough, 10/10 would subscribe!!
