What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

I’ve been a weekly listener since the Celebration Rock days and I still look forward to tuning in with each new episode. I love Sportscast, Cinemacast, AIcast, and even hashing out the trends. But…I have a challenge for Steven and Ian. Try to go two episodes in a row without saying the name Taylor Swift. I really don’t think they know how often they talk about her, but she’s mentioned at least once per episode. She might be the biggest pop star in the world, but she makes music for high school girls, not 40 year old rock critics. My dudes will never understand her music. So instead, actually shine a light on indie music. This podcast should be the one safe place from Taylor Swift.

Tanny12! · Oct 2025

I am new to this podcast and had no idea how much I was needing this type of conversation in my life. Steven and Ian are genuinely great guys with a particularly adroit knowledge and passion for music. This is sincerely enjoyable and fun listening. Their commentary is genuine, honest and lacks pretension. You’ll leave every episode having learned something and most importantly discover a new album you were not aware of.

Fantastic weekly rundown of the indie musicsphere with two top-tier writers and critics whom I’ve been reading and listening to for years now. We’re lucky to have them, folks!

HeathenKevin · Aug 2024

I look forward to listening to this first thing every Friday morning. It reminds me of the music geek conversations I used to have with friends. The guys have enough difference and convergence of opinion to make the show engaging rather than annoying. I appreciate the weekly music picks, too! I have discovered several new bands from them that aren’t getting love from other music sites and pods, especially Ian, who leans more into emo and hardcore. Definitely check out Hyden’s books, too. They are enjoyable and clever. Maybe less on sports, though.
