Official podcasts can be a mixed bag but HBO has done it right by going to none other than the hardest-hitting, deepest-diving, Grand Maester of the citadel himself, Emmy Award-winning Jason Concepcion.
He and Greta have great chemistry, the show is informative and funny, and the interviews are always interesting. If you need a deeper dive, just tap on Jason’s picture, but only after you listen to this pod.

I felt like I was being manipulated by this podcast. It contains a lot of unfair loaded language sounding suspiciously like propaganda. Seems like we're leaning towards the old double standard for female rulers and also repeating the mistake of the original Game of Thrones.
Rhaenyra has not “self-anointed” herself queen; Viserys named her his heir and never changed his mind. Aegon was crowned in direct defiance of that. And saying Rhaenyra “lied” about Aegon being dead confuses being wrong with lying.
Likewise, Aegon and Sunfyre returning may be great propaganda, but that does not suddenly make Aegon the legitimate or more competent ruler. And the High Septon was not some politically neutral religious leader whom Rhaenyra murdered for disagreeing with her. He actively helped legitimize a rival claimant during a violent usurpation.
Most offensive is the assumption that Rhaenyra finally becoming decisive means she is becoming tyrannical. We have watched her try restraint, negotiation and her father’s gentler style all season, and it has repeatedly weakened her position. Changing strategy when the evidence shows your old strategy is failing is not madness or tyranny; it is rational adaptation.
If Daenerys II is where the story is ultimately headed, I'm out.

My husband got me watching GOT and now HOTD. I enjoy both, yet this review show is mediocre at best. It’s as if the hosts root for the highly flawed men in the show to succeed and celebrate when the just as inept women fail. The lack of objective re-storytelling is disappointing. Critic reviews from various publications are much more satisfying.
