The David Frum Show

by The Atlantic

To defend democracy, one has to believe in it. To believe in democracy, one has to understand it. Where it came from. How it works. What’s true. What’s not. What others did before you. How it could be better. How to make a difference.  Each week, The David Frum Show digs deep into the big questions people have about our society, explains the progress Americans have made together, and reminds us that the American idea is worth defending.

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

Excellent choice of guests and topics. Stands apart from the legion of talking heads.

David, on your video podcast with Charlie Sykes, you mentioned Claremont College as an incubator of extreme right wing ideology. What you meant (let’s hope, because otherwise you’re slandering Claremont Colleges) is Claremont Institute, which has no relationship whatsoever with The Claremont Colleges. The Claremont Colleges includes five undergraduate liberal arts colleges and two graduate institutions: Pomona College, Claremont Graduate University, Scripps College, Claremont McKenna College, Harvey Mudd College, Pitzer College and Keck Graduate Institute. Please fact check and be more careful. This kind of sloppy commentary hurts respectable, legitimate institutions and the students who attend them.

a bit of stardust · May 2025

One of the rare, bittersweet comforts of this terrifying Trump era is the emergence of great citizens who are rising to the moment. David Frum is one of them. David embodies the informed integrity, spirit of free inquiry and unapologetic advocacy of democracy in the best American tradition - the very qualities the current GOP regime has no use for. A high compliment- these conversations are often bracing, always thoughtful, and usually too short.

M. Shasha · May 2025

If you care at all about preserving US democracy, this new podcast is a must. David is very knowledgeable. I learn something valuable every week. So important to being an informed citizen.
