I’ve been a loyal listener for well over a year now, yet somehow I have never left a review for my favorite TBOYs. Criminal behavior on my part. So, Nick and Jack, this one is long overdue. Listening to these fellas tell stories, explain business, and make jokes with the energy of the DeLorean getting struck by lightning in Back to the Future is one of the best additions you can make to your day. TBOY has become a ritual for me. There’s a structure to the show you can count on every day, but layered within it are so many inside jokes, recurring phrases, themes, and pieces of lore that you slowly start to understand. Then, one fateful episode, they finally explain something you’ve heard 37 times before, and suddenly you’re in. You get it. You’re a Yeti. And the reason I’m finally writing this review is that Nick and Jack just released what I genuinely think may have been Their Best One Yet. So, in true Opposite Day fashion, let’s do like Missy Elliott and flip it and reverse it by starting with the takeaway: Vulnerability is valued. And if the proof is in the pudding, this episode was the pudding. The episode was titled Comebacks, and Nick and Jack shared some genuinely difficult parts of their lives while showing what it can look like to come back from them. Somehow, they turned those experiences into stories that were beyond inspiring. I’m a huge believer in the phrase “just show up,” so hearing Nick talk about losing the college sports experience and lifelong passion he had worked toward, dealing with that rejection, and ultimately finding success and glory simply by continuing to show up really hit me. Who hasn’t been rejected? Who hasn’t had the version of their life they pictured suddenly disappear? This was a superhero moment for Nick. Then Jack talked about the difficulty of not feeling supported in something that makes you happy, and that hit another nail right on the head. I think most people have experienced some version of feeling guilty for being their full selves, whether in a relationship, at work, or somewhere else, because doing so feels like you’re disappointing someone or taking something away from their experience. Hearing how freeing himself from something that was holding him back eventually allowed him to find someone who would support him and push him even further was incredibly powerful. But what made the episode even better wasn’t just the comeback stories. It was hearing two best friends tell each other things that genuinely felt like they hadn’t fully talked about before. Do I actually know whether that’s true? Absolutely not. Will I choose to believe it, like I do most things Nick and Jack tell me? Absolutely. Because after listening to these guys nearly every day, there’s a weird but very real sense of trust that develops. They’re dependable. They’re genuine. They’re vulnerable. And somehow, between the business stories, hot takes, jokes, Yetis, and lore, they’ve built something that feels like more than a podcast. It also doesn’t escape me that they released Their Best One Yet while taking their annual vacation. Because that is the Nick and Jack way. They always be glowing. Especially Jack 😉 For my review: 5 stars. A daily listen. -Nick N.
This podcast is such a great jolt of energy for my morning commute. Three relevant , tight stories where I learn something (or several things) every day and am always entertained! It’s become a can’t miss for me.
Not only do you give concise information, but you two have been apart of my morning routine, everyday FOUR years. The smiles are audible in your voices and you guys keep news fun. TY from T from NYC! Finance alumn like you two, now I have two startups (like you two too)! Can you cut back on the ads/ sponsors? It is starting to feel like 40% of each episode.
Nick and Jack have been able to hold my attention with this pod every business day, for the last several years from their Robinhood snacks days. Great research, and terrific presentation!
I’ve been listening to this podcast for years (started back when it was Robinhood Snacks). I love the content.. but over the years the podcast has gotten longer due to ads. Used to be 17-18min of quality business news, now I feel like I’m playing a game trying to hit skip enough times to pass thru 6-7min of ads. Starting to think it’s not worth the listen anymore.
