A fan of The Yard, I’ve watched some Atrioc and familiar with his Yard lore, know DougDoug from Yard lore and seen home in other people streams/events. I have been following the podcast since it launched and today my playlist of podcast finally ran out and the May 1st episode started playing and I was locked in the entire time. Will def go back and listen to everything now. Good content, thoughtful discussion, and they sound like they’ve researched/ know their topics instead of just spewing opinions off rip.
The pod is good! The most entertaining business focused podcast. Glad to have a longer form medium where these three can seriously dig into topics. Despite some reviews saying it’s “right-leaning”, it most definitely is not and discussion around each topics only bias is towards that of younger generations opinions (public transport good, overuse of phones scary, etc) which feels more left-leaning from a U.S. lens. With that context, it’s very neutral and things like Doug’s deep dive into benefits/strengths of Tesla & AI is a side you don’t see much earnestly in good faith. This is a regular listen for me. Feedback: I watch what these three do independently so it doesn’t bother me, but there’s a lot of “in” jokes for those that watch each stream/the yard. I’m sure it comes naturally, but intentionally trying to cut back a bit would make it more inviting for general audiences that otherwise enjoy the content. A little more structure would help discussions get more flushed out. There’s a fine line between natural/conversational and unfocused which the podcast currently errs on the later side. It’s still early days though and I think you guys will get better as things go along.
Just three level headed guys who don’t freak out over dissenting opinions. Enjoy watching them reason through politics as rational people instead of talking heads.
Contrary to what some other reviews say, Atrioc, Dougdoug, and that guy from that other podcast are not acting all far-right on the Lemonade Stand. Even when discussing the merits of AI and Tesla products, they make sure to clearly state they do not support or agree with Elon Musk. Also, Atrioc has stated numerous times he voted for Kamala Harris, and he also regularly criticizes Trump, so the notion that he’s somehow more far right then he’s letting on is a bizarre feat of mental gymnastics. As for the podcast itself, it’s cool. Like a more intellectual Chuckle Sandwich (three white guys laughing at their own jokes for an hour and a half). I’ve enjoyed listening to it so far. The feedback I have is that there could be more accommodation for us audio listeners, as sometimes they’ll pull up a video or something and we can’t tell what it is, and also that sometimes Big A is far away from his mic, making him hard to hear. Otherwise, I don’t have any significant criticisms. Give it a listen if you’re interested in current events, technology, and economics. What sets it apart from most of the other three-guys-talking podcasts is that each of them are actually well-qualified to discuss many of their topics, and they bring those specific qualifications to the table, without too much overlap.
