A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

I enjoyed the voice acting - nice to have a different sounding lead person/character for a change, and she’s a talented voice actor. Sure, the character’s insecurities weren’t appealing - she’s a lead, chemistry happens, *own* it, for goodness sake. But the real problem is the story, itself. Doesn’t seem to know if it’s sci-fi thriller or romance. Could have been both (which would have been surprising, but interesting), but in the end winds being neither, just a hot mess. I’m not even sure what the point of the ending was...but didn’t have enough interest to listen to it, again. Too bad - this had potential.

I binge listened to all of the episodes on a car ride. The acting was well done and the storyline was very immersive. I knew that it was going to be kind of weird based on the genre and other reviews I’d read, but the last episode was a little too weird for me. It seemed out of character as well, but overall, I enjoyed it

I loved this podcast. I was transported and binged most of it on several long drives. Several reviewers complained about the female lead’s voice, but that was one of the many things I loved. Her voice sounded like a real person and not the overly manicured overdone “acting” voices in many podcasts. I was listening to a stage play for adults with actual subtlety in all of the characters and their voices. The romance and the interpersonal situations were nuanced (and when they weren’t, that was on purpose). Definitely recommended for anyone who has been around the block a few times and wants a little more maturity and professionalism from their podcast fiction.

I tore through all 14 episodes and listened to the finale twice to wrap my head around the madness. The writing is tight and compelling, the cast is incredible, top to bottom, and the sound design is so great you really lose yourself in the world.

JordiWill · Feb 2019

Mediocre sound design, acting and a very non linear, messy story line. I wouldn’t recommend. Mildly entertaining but don’t expect much more than that. Overly dramatic and chaotic episode design- hard to follow and missing substance. The ending was absolutely just bizarre and left field. Arguably one of the worst wrap ups I’ve listened to in a long time. Great idea but very poorly executed. If you’re looking for a show with similar themes jump on over to Limetown- that one won’t let you down!

I love SF, and I really love radio drama, so I'm thrilled about the current flowering of audio-dramas-as-podcasts. This seemed like a sure bet, but...To begin with: terrible casting. I'm sure Ashlie Atkinson is a great actress and I know she's won awards, but...she was the WRONG casting choice for Dak. If the male lead had an irritating, chain-smoking mother, THAT role should have gone to Atkinson, not the female lead and love (lust) interest. During the love/lust scenes, my mind's eye just had to look away in embarrassment. I'd have gone with an experienced voice actress like (a younger) Laura Esterman, or maybe someone authoritative like Catherine Keener, Janine Turner or Jada Pinkett Smith. Then there's the plot, which starts out strong but seems to lose its way about halfway through and goes off the rails entirely at the end. Well...in the words of that great radio actress Vivien Leigh, "Tomorrow is another day."
