I’ve been on an intensive Beach Boys binge following Brian’s passing and came across this show. It’s fantastic and fun and I learn a ton on each episode that I devour. Keep it up, please!

The Beach Boys are my favorite band and I would consider myself a “hardcore” fan. Simply, this IS the best BB podcast out there. The in depth session by session, album by album approach is exactly what I’m looking for as someone who knows the basic details of the bands history. I love those episodes and await each one with great anticipation. Until you realize it’s one of the months without that detailed look. Just around half of the 12 episode year seem to be “off episodes” where the host just talks to a friend. Usually these friends have only a casual interest in the group and give little to no insight. I just can’t sit through those episodes. For example, it is June 1 and it’s been since January that any album history has been discussed. The ramshackle episodes since have been no more than “this is my friend and they heard a beach boys record once.” It’s like I have to sit through the Disney documentary for like 4 months in a row. Is this still the best podcast on my favorite band? Absolutely. However the “off period” episodes take too much away from the 5 star album review episodes.

…. I mean podcast. But seriously, I am very obsessed with this podcast. I’ve been hooked since I started a few months back and I binge listen to this show anytime I’m doing chores. Based on things I knew about this show from what I read online, I was very hesitant about the co host changes that happen a few years in, but, honestly, I think I like the new direction better (I’m almost done with the smile sessions). Regardless, there’s not a bad episode here. I’m very excited to stick with this show for years to come.

I’ve been a huge fan of The Beach Boys since HS (late 70’s) thanks to my brother who has an equal if not greater appreciation for the music. I thought I was a subject matter expert but am impressed/amazed and most definitely yearning to learn more from Wyatt and Jason. I’m a few years behind and just got thru the Pet Sounds series, and like the album I’m replaying the podcasts for nuggets I missed first time thru. My sincere thanks for this podcast’s existence because nobody in my peer group gets the same level of awe that I get. These stories are told in such a way as to appreciate the times this music was developed (technology, business aspect, politics) and you feel as though you are in the studio as the music is being created. Each episode is thoughtfully researched and not rushed. If more time is needed to discuss a topic, it’s continued on the next episode. Happy new patron of the show and looking forward to falling down the Good Vibrations rabbit hole that is to come. Stay well and toes on the nose guys! Ed Lenehan PS saw your recent show in Myrtle Beach and 10/10! If anyone wants an awesome music experience look no further than Surfs Up!

It’s really sad that this podcast is now a shadow of what it used to be. It was fantastic! I was hooked! The rapport between Wyatt and Jason was great and the discussions were interesting, warm and rather funny on occasion. Not anymore. Instead we now have Will and John who breakdown every track, unreleased song and demo for every album in excruciatingly anoraky detail. So, if you ever wondered who played rhythm guitar on the demo version of an unreleased ditty then fear not; they’ll be sure to tell you. I’m very interested in how they The Beach Boys did what they did but this is neither fun or engaging. I feel like they’ve been talking about Sunflower for centuries. Wyatt simply does a walk on at the start to tell you how busy he is and that’s it. Such a shame.

This would get 5 stars if the British guy didn’t say ‘like’ in every sentence. Once you notice it’s hard to ignore. Apart from that it’s great.
