I was trying to explain to someone who Jimmy DiResta is and realized how ridiculous it sounds out loud—he’s basically a guy who can pick something up off a New York City street and turn it into a lamp. Then you’ve got Bob Clagett, a full-on Star Wars nerd who casually built his own R2-D2 (which is honestly awesome), and Dave—who I somehow missed until now but am quickly making up for. I’ve followed Jimmy and Bob since about 2014 which oddly is about when they started the podcast yet I never listened to it until now. I’m on my way through 500+ episodes. It’s equal parts making, storytelling, and just three guys being real about what they do. Hearing them talk about their upcoming projects with uncertainty already knowing the outcome gives me a good laugh. If you like building, creating, or just hearing how people turn ideas into reality, this podcast is an easy five stars.
Listening to Jimmy, David and Bob talk about making, problem solving and life in general has been a highlight of my week for many years. They are full of information and inspiration in every episode. They usually start out with nothing to talk about and then talk about that for about an hour. 🤣 If you’re looking for a podcast that will embolden your maker spirit, this is the one!
I know it’s been said by a hundred people, but listening to this podcast is like hanging out with your follow creatives & or small business owners. I operate a custom metal fab shop in Austin Texas, doing creative & high end custom work. Seems like every episode is a conversation that I’ve had with my employees / friends / other business owners / or in my own head. Thanks to you guys for verifying that I am not insane, but yes we all have these issues, successes, failures, and questions. Love the show, keep it up!
Hey guys, long time listener, first time commenter ;) The podcast is great - just wanted to toss an idea your way. Maybe every now and then you could call out and search a hashtag like #MakingItSmall (or something) to find creators who are out there getting their hands dirty, doing the work, and keeping the maker spirit alive. Not as a handout or just picking out rockstars, but more like tipping your hat to those small or newer folks carrying the torch of creative making. Could be a nice way to be of service to the community.
You're losing YouTube viewers because your content is not relatable to the average Joe/Jo Shmoe. We want to see you doing things in cramped crapholes like we have, not the fancy shops with tools most of us could never get our hands on. Amaze us with your basic skills, not your fancy toys.
We strive to present a balanced view by showing a diverse range of reviews from Apple Podcasts.
