Always entertaining and solid reporting. It’s like listening to your friend who is obsessive about college football and watches all the games (the big 12 ones I actually care about). I listen everyday!
You may not agree with everything Drake says, and there are certainly some wild takes, but Drake is the type of host you want campaigning for the Big 12 conference. He is loud and proud of the schools represented in the conference. In an era of media preferences towards the B1G and the SEC, you want your media reps doing everything they can to bring attention to the talent within the conference. There are reviews talking about clickbait articles and nonsensical content, to which I would ask them to show a daily podcast that doesn’t also have those same issues. Try coming up with content to fill 30 minutes every day that is not the same thing said in 5 different ways. Finally, I think Drake does an incredibly fair job defending a religion he doesn’t himself follow. I have been impressed with the way he has approached the topic and feel that he would approach that topic the same with any other religion, if they were being insulted at a football game. My only complaint (and it doesn’t pertain exclusively to this podcast) is the sheer amount of advertising for sports betting. I don’t think our media needs to be so inundated with sports books, but that’s just the way it is. Overall I think he is an excellent person to be championing the Big 12 conference and I will continue to listen to the podcast frequently.
Drake has a gift for dishing the deets while making them extremely entertaining. Love his takes and the way he presents them. If you are a fan of a team in the Big 12 and are not listening to locked on big 12…what are you doing with your life?
All the whiners who are hating on Drake Toll for talking about the schools making the most impact within the conference are doing little more than putting their own biases on full display. This is a podcast that works hard to discuss all of the teams in the Big 12. And it’s entertaining, informative, and balanced. Does Mr. Toll sometimes get under the skin of certain fan bases within the conference? Absolutely. But do those fan bases deserve it? Probably. Carry on Drake. You’re doing it right.
In-season coverage was good when covering all teams but recent offseason coverage with what feels like wall to wall BYU “news” has been insufferable. There are 15 other teams in this league so you could spend 3 weeks without discussing any one team! Please “lock on” to the whole Big 12 instead of one team.
