While I don’t listen on iTunes, Spotify doesn’t allow reviews, so I decided to leave this review here to further support the show.

This podcast is excellent. I was concerned that it might be scant on info since Chris is attempting to illuminate history from the beginning of the Homo genus to the modern day, but I have since been pleasantly surprised by the - as I’ve described to friends of mine - apparent love affair with context.

Even when discussing battles, Chris will take the history back to the first human presence in the area. Despite the broad ambition of the show, it is dense with information. Including the unscripted podcasts (which are more than worth it), there is enough information presented to thoroughly satisfy a master’s program in history.

Add in the methodical and delightfully British delivery, and you have a show that is more than worth it’s value. If knowledge were wealth, anyone listening would be well financed for their time. 100/10

I had discovered this podcast a few years and as a truck driver it is thee BEST thing. I study history in my free time so it’s great to have this resource to come back to. Very informative and unbiased information and the host Chris is great. I assumed you were Australian at first but now that I’ve listened through enough episodes, I know you’re English. Cheers ! Keep it up and I can’t wait to catch up to the most recent episodes !

Chris, I long wished to go back and study ancient works history of my high school days, when I stumbled across your podcast about 2-3 years ago. I generally listen during my commute. Everything is wonderful about the podcast. You do such a thorough and fabulous job of guiding the listener through this absolutely massive subject! I recently finished the profile set on Julius Cesar. All such interesting stuff. And your job is only going to get bigger as we come into more modern times and there is more material and more to cover! This is a enormous project you’ve set before yourself. I’m a little late in coming to the poll, but like the battle sounds and voice of God features. I also like how you give geographical references to modern cities. This is especially important if one is listening from the car so we can later go and look at a map. I also love when you provide reference to ancient origins of modern day words/phrases/monuments, etc. Also super love the interspersed of focus podcasts, eg Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, Medicine in the Prehistoric World, etc. And I want to highlight appreciation for covering often lesser highlighted cultures such as South American prehistory, Asian, African, etc. Keep up the great work. We really appreciate you and the effort it takes to produce such a quality work of this size. Hats off to you

In searching for prehistory content on apple podcasts, I came across Chris’s podcast. The History of the World Podcast is Awesome!

I started at the beginning, and am now through all of Volume 1. I have thoroughly enjoyed it. Chris is a great narrator - very informative and engaging. He uses a lot of common sense in reviewing prehistorical periods, but is careful to point out areas of scientific disagreement or controvercy.

I highly recommend Volume 1, and am looking forward to ancient and classical civilization up next!

I like this program. It is just the right level of information for someone who knows nothing to sound intelligent. Plus the presenter’s personal asides make him seem like a friend to choose for a lonng roadtrip.

I like the narrator, he has a personable tone, but his information is consistently coming from a Judeo Christian European centered vaguely racist perspective.
Alternatively, I would recommend Tides of History or the Fall of Civilizations Podcast.
Their information is much more broad in perspective.
