John’s teaching has been informing the way I think, as well as my personal discipleship, since I had the good fortune to sit in one of his pews in 2010. As a pastor’s kid, I thought I had heard every sermon there was to hear… And then I listened to John teach on pride and how to disarm it from our lives, and I was delighted to learn that there is so much more for me to learn about a life of faith. John is just as authentic in the church parking lot as he is on his podcast and I am grateful to welcome his perspective and wisdom back into my days, both with this podcast and his becoming new podcast. Thank you John and team for continuing to teach us. (And, for what it’s worth, John does not know I am leaving this comment, nor did he ask me to do so… As a PK I grew up with so many people asking what my dad was really like when no one was watching… Just as my answer underlined his ministry, my heart is to underline the authenticity of John’s.)

While getting ready for work, at the lake making supper in our camper, while my baby naps… listening to John Ortberg has become a part of my routine. Now my husband & mom as well. John communicates in a way where there’s relatability, humor, humbleness & honesty- there’s no ‘better than’ filter with John. And the guests he chats with are of the same caliber like Steven Cuss who share insight on things like anxiety or overthinking who give the same down to earth, genuine style. I have a short attention span, I’m 32 & busy and yet I look forward to slowing down to listen & learn from John so I encourage everyone to listen in as well!!
