I was very impressed with Larry Taunton’s responses to what Jordan Peterson has said about Christianity. I think it’s also really important for us Christians to be very careful of listening to or following those who speak as though they know truth, but haven’t professed to receiving Christ themselves. The Bible says there will also be many false prophets in the last days that will deceive many. This is why it’s so important that we read God’s Word and stay in true doctrine so that we’re not deceived by human cunning. I really like Taunton’s comment that Christianity is not a system, it’s a Person. This was my favorite interview on this show!
I’ve learned so much listening to this podcast almost since it’s inception. He has had amazing guests over the years, many of whom I had never heard of, but who have so much valuable insight and knowledge to offer. That alone makes this podcast worth listening to regularly. Eric has grown as an interviewer. It’s true he does get excited and often interjects his opinions, but he seems to do this less than in the early days. Perhaps because he is so passionate, he can’t help himself. Even in some of his more awkward interviews, I give him major kudos, because he is putting himself out there. Unless you’ve done a podcast yourself, you have no idea what a vulnerable thing this is to do. Thank you Eric, for putting yourself out there, and helping us grow as listeners and critical thinkers!
You won’t be wasting your time listening to Eric! His guest and insights are fantastic and spot on. Do yourself a favor and tune in.
The Eric Metaxes show is a wealth of information. He has all kinds of guests — political, spiritual, and even societal. I look forward to the guest lineup every week. Great show!
Eric Metaxes is a very intelligent and highly educated man. He has top-notch guests on his podcast. But don’t think his skills as a writer transfer to podcasting. After listening to some of his shows, and trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, I’ve decided I won’t listen to him ever again. Eric has almost no interviewing skills whatsoever. He interrupts mid-sentence, rarely asks questions of his guests, and spends most of each podcast rambling about his opinions (which given his education are surprisingly superficial rather than nuanced and thought out). I’ve seen podcasters with much less prestige and education level do a far better job of listening to and conversing with guests. The most recent podcast with Naomi Wolf was so cringeworthy, I feel sorry for her suffering through that.
The constant, disruptive ads and their repetition, the added music and humor may engage some. For those of us with jobs or that are busy with family and life, we will find information elsewhere. Your banter works well with Socrates but not in an informational format.
