by University of Chicago Podcast Network

Rights matter, but conversations about rights can be polarizing, confusing and frustrating. Lawyers and law professors Claudia Flores and Tom Ginsburg have traveled the world getting into the weeds of global human rights debates. On Entitled, they use that expertise to explore the stories and thorny questions around why rights matter and what’s the matter with rights. Entitled is produced with the support of University of Chicago Law School and Yale Law School, and is part of the award winning University of Chicago Podcast Network.

What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

Up or down are relative to the viewer- Professor Claudia Flores does a great job showing both sides of the coin to poke your thinking process and see things from different perspectives. It is for sure a very difficult job she has. She keeps you entertained while exploring completely opposite points of views that might be “right”, “legal “, and “fair” to both sides. Great job opening the different taboo boxes and sparking meaningful conversations. It is for sure, what our country, and perhaps the world, really needs..

Perú-visit · Aug 2022

As a high school teacher, human rights was a central topic in my classes. How I wish Entitled was available when I was teaching! It is exactly the kind of thought-provoking and compelling treatment of an important topic that we very much need. Flores and Ginsburg masterfully treat important, relevant human rights topics in meaningful and realistic ways so that we see the full picture of human rights as they relate to these topics.

West216 · Sep 2021

Intellectually stimulating and such a good balance in guests: academics, lawyers, artists and just people in the world grappling with the hardest questions.

NinoChi55 · Jul 2021

As an inherent skeptic about the salience of human rights given the practical realities of borders, infighting and perceptions of scarcity, I this podcast opened my mind and gave me much to ponder. Highly recommend...

SAGBKBGB · Jul 2021

I was looking forward to the podcast and expected it to be a more nuanced view of balancing the rights and obligations of different parties from a legal perspective. The first few episodes were OK but it seems less balanced when dealing with really difficult issues like Gaza. Flores in particular seems to have strong opinions and Ginsburg pushes back a little occasionally, but it isn't the balanced discussion of tradeoffs I had hoped for.
