DEAD Talks

by David Ferrugio

DEAD Talks with David Ferrugio is a podcast about death, grief, loss, and what it means to truly live. After losing his father on 9/11, David created a space for honest, emotional, and sometimes funny conversations about the one thing we all face but rarely talk about. Each episode features guests sharing real stories about grief, near-death experiences, the afterlife, healing, trauma, spirituality, and the human experience. You might cry, you might laugh, and you might leave thinking about life a little differently.

What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

David is so compassionate, so thoughtful, so humble, asks insightful questions and listens deeply to his guests. I work in the end-of-life industry and always learn from each episode.

He’s clear-headed. No performance, no handholding, no forced sentiment. Just real conversations with people who have lived through loss—and a host who actually listens. I love that he says moving on is a choice. Not a prescription. Not a duty. Just… one way to go. Or not. I also love that he doesn’t pretend to be soft. When people hear his story—his dad dying in 9/11—and say “Oh god, I’m sorry,” and he answers “Why? You didn’t kill him,” I laugh every time. Because it’s honest. Because it breaks the script. He’s open in all directions. He doesn’t care what you believe. He’s not selling anything. He’s just asking the right questions, and letting people answer in whatever shape they’re in. This is the one I return to. Especially on the days I don’t want to be told how to grieve.

I don’t think we have a general understanding of death in our culture today. David has guests that offer us different experiences and perspectives on death and dying that we wouldn’t have access to experience otherwise. His interviews are always thought provoking, honest and respectful. I’ve been listening to Dead Talks for over a year and I’m truly grateful to David for the work he does.

I enjoyed the discussion you had with Dr Jenn about miscarriage. My parents experienced 5 miscarriages from 1941-49 before I was born in 1950. Your discussion opened my mind and heart about what they likely experienced.
