Book Talk, etc. - Podcast Rankings and reviews

Love this podcast. Hannah and Tina have such calming voices and they feel like friends I could have coffee with while chatting about books. They also choose books that I usually have not heard of before. Finally, although I love the books, I love their Loving Lately segment. I have found such cool stuff from them.

This podcast has added so much to my reading life, I’m appreciative! The talk is real, their feelings about books and authors is real, and there’s no pretense to these ladies opinions and I find myself returning over and over to this podcast for great bookish topics and recommendations.

I do really enjoy this podcast. I was sad when Rene left but I find Hannah to be a lovely addition. The only issue I have is how they stop the book talk to compliment each other! Every episode someone will finish a book recommendation and the other will over the top compliment them about how great they did summarizing the book. I find it so unnecessary and annoying. If they want to hype each other up great, but please cut that out of the episode.

I have followed Tina on social media and podcasts for years. We have super similar reading tastes and she never steers me wrong! I love how she talks about books. It feels like when I talk to my friends about a book. But I’m not going to lie, I haven’t been super happy about bringing Hannah to the show. She seems lovely as a person! But I just think she brings a different energy to the podcast that it didn’t have before. Sometimes she can be a little too therapy talk-y and stilted when she comments on what Tina suggests. She always goes out of her way to give validation to Tina for a book she’s read or Tina’s thoughts on a book. I feel like I hear Hannah’s voice more than Tina’s and I’m here for Tina’s opinions and thoughts. I would honestly love a podcast with just Tina’s book recs. Their conversation doesn’t really flow and it feels scripted. I don’t think it is, but I just don’t think Hannah has gotten the hang of podcasting yet. I’ve been trying to listen to the new episodes all summer, but it’s been hard to get through them. I’m so sad this podcast went from my favorite and immediate listen podcast to one that I can’t finish an episode of. I love Tina and would listen to anything she does, so I really hope they’re working through the awkwardness and can get into a more natural conversational rhythm!

I loved this podcast but after the host I loved left it seems to have taken a turn. It’s become less about book talk and more about the hosts political views.
