I really love this podcast, and have read so many great books recommended by the hosts. That said, since the format changed from each host talking about 3 titles in depth to each host talking about 5-10 titles they are excited to read, I struggle to pay attention. I hope for a return to the more substantive recommendations in the future.

I found this podcast during the pandemic and I have been regularly listening to it ever since. It is truly delightful to hear such well-read hosts talk about books of every genre imaginable. This podcast has helped me find so many books I never would’ve known about if I hadn’t been listening. Liberty Hardy in particular is really impressive - her joy for books is palpable and her love of cats and bird watching are fun extras.

I’ve listened for years and have gotten some of the best recommendations from your show. One of my most recent reads, Mickey7, was because of this show. I’ve heard Liberty talk about it and finally picked it up. Thank you, I loved it! I’m catching up on a couple of episodes and was just listening to the backlist episode 501.5 and cracked up when Vanessa said, “The plot quackens.” 🤣 I appreciate the recommendations and I also like that your personalities come through. You all seem so wonderful and I appreciate all that you do! Please keep up the great work!

Liberty has been off her game for months now because she is unwell. while I know she doesn’t want it to, it obviously is making the podcast far less cohesive and entertaining. It has become a negative space filled with her illnesses, despondency, and she is meandering around so many topics that it doesn’t even make a lot of sense sometimes. I really hope she just takes the time off and let others step in to keep the podcast going. I am sure there is a good team that could do that for her so she can focus on getting better and not stressing about trying to prep for a podcast which she has to do while lying down. I hope that she takes that time for herself and the show supports her.

Update April 2026. Changed to one star. The entire format has changed to where the hosts just speak randomly about a book they are reading, a book they've heard of, and book news you can find on the main podcast. No longer seems to be a weekly show but that's fine. I have lost all interest. Just really disappointing. This used to be my favorite podcast. Listened religiously to the Well Read Heads. Still love Liberty but Rebecca moved on (fair, she doesn't have to stay committed to the pod forever) but was replaced by a revolving door of cohosts who basically range from "meh" to unlistenable. I don't know how else to kindly say not everyone is meant for podcasting. I'm certainly not. The episodes with Emily are especially painful. PLEASE revamp this show again. I miss it!

I used to LOVE this show! When Liberty and Rebecca hosted together, it was by far my favorite bookish podcast. I’ve listened to every single show, multiple times, and would look forward to it every Tuesday. Over the past couple years however, I’ve lost interest. The books they recommend are so obscure-cats in space, noodle loving robots… come on. I used to be able to go to my independent book stores, and know what all of the newly released books were about from the podcast. Now, I have to find other podcasts and ways to learn about new books because the books being recommended by Liberty etc these days are not interesting to the general reader. I’m 100% in favor of recommending books written by and for LGBTQ, and people of color. I’m talking about all the graphic novels, books about animals in space and all that stuff. I’m thinking of not following the show anymore, which is sad.
