On Tuesdays and Fridays The Moth’s podcast feed presents episodes of the Peabody-Award Winning Moth Radio Hour and original episodes of The Moth Podcast. Since its launch in 1997, The Moth has presented thousands of true stories, told live and without notes, to standing-room-only crowds worldwide. Moth storytellers stand alone, under a spotlight, with only a microphone and a roomful of strangers. The storyteller and the audience embark on a high-wire act of shared experience which is both terrifying and exhilarating. This podcast has made me listen actively, feel feelings and abstain from the stress and anxiety hamster wheel of politics and true crime which have become harder to separate as separate genres these days. The stories of the excellent story tellers are beautiful. They make you laugh, cry, laugh until you cry and I feel lighter after having listened.

As the title says, one of my all-time favorite podcasts or any form of audio entertainment. One of my favorite pastimes is to setup a nice hot bubble bath, a cold beverage, light some candles, and listen to an episode or two of The Moth.

I like the Moth, it used to be one of my favorite podcasts but the loud cheering and clapping from the audience, the loud trumpet theme song and the loud ads just make it nearly impossible to enjoy the lovely stories especially at night when all you want to do is unwind, relax and fall asleep. For those reasons I haven’t listened to it in a couple of years at least.
If they could somehow isolate the voices of the storytellers and tone down the jazzy trumpet (I get it, you can play the trumpet) it would be a much better podcast.

I’ve been a subscriber and faithful listener to this podcast for years but I now find myself removing it from my library. I’ve loved the wide array of stories and experiences of people around the world that cover such a huge range of emotions. Over the past few months, however, the topics have become so politically charged and biased that I can’t listen any longer.
It’s unfortunate that one of my favorite podcasts has become yet another outlet pushing a political agenda. I’ve turned off the news and television for this reason and yet here we are again with more of the same. Good luck to you Moth but if this is the direction you’re going, you’re going without my support.
