The Historian's Table

I truly enjoyed this show. I listened to this at the same time I was studying Psalm 51 in the Bible, in which King David admits to having done some very wrong thing. Honest history shows people as wonderful and broken, beautiful and wrong, all mixed up together. It’s painful, and fraught with glory, and very real. Thanks to the host, the historian, and the musician for bringing their friendship, experiences, and insights to the table to share about their personal histories and the history of Asians in the Americas.

Absolutely loved this. I super appreciate the willingness to hold space for complexities and how important that is. Helped me reflect on my own life and challenge myself in how I approach things going forward.

What a great series! I very much enjoyed the vignette approach, toggling between big-picture observations about history and personal narratives about searching for meaning and identity. It was quite effective and helped me learn more about the endlessly complex story of this place where we live. Thanks to the whole team! One more comment. As difficult as your challenges were in grade school, they also shaped you, forcing you to seek answers. The hardest thing as a parent is to watch your kid face challenges that you wish you could fix. Just remember that you all turned out to thoughtful and stand up humans. Challenges + love + the right kind of kick in the butt= awesome.
