Set in an original world plagued by eldritch diseases. The series isn’t a big multicast audio drama, nevertheless the voice acting and worldbuilding is top notch. I especially like how the show sticks to the fact that the diseases and their strange effects are the primary supernatural element.

Simply some of the best writing or voice acting I’ve encountered in any medium. I had been running through several new podcasts trying to find more listening material and my mood was running from disappointed to despondent, but then I stumbled upon this gem. It might be a little dry, even pedantic for some audiences, but if you love, say, Jorge Borges, Umberto Eco, or Knifepoint Horror then you probably have a friend here. Doubly impressive is that this is a one man show. Listening to the creator’s voice in and out of character creates a contrast to fall in love with. Easily the best podcast I’ve discovered in the last two years, and a contender for top five in general.
I don’t know if I’d exactly call T.H.O.R.B. a horror podcast, but I would call it one of the most original and compelling podcast dramas I’ve heard. The sound quality is really good, the plot intricate but follow-able, and the asides alone are worth lingering over. I often listen to podcasts during my last waking hour or two. The narrator’s resonant voice and the lack of jarring sound effects are pleasing as I drowse off. One issue is there are enough unusual words that I have to refer to the transcript, or re-listen when I’m more fully awake, which is not unpleasant. One thing I would love to see added to this show would be other voices aiding in rendering the story, but only if they are as good as the narrator’s.
