Cohesive plot, long running, solid length on episodes, well acted. Enjoying the mystery and exploration. Only complaint is that the sign off is nearly beat for beat identical to the TMA sign off but subbing in their name, like slow cello draw and all, it’s weird. But other than that it’s solid
I love the imagination in this show - the intersection of different ideas in language, zoology, history, and other fields is so interesting. The sound design is also great - I love how different creatures and environments are represented in soundscapes and effects. There's a good mix of "diagetic" action scenes recorded by the protagonist, and narration or conversation that serves to recount storylines, and it flows pretty seamlessly together. I'm intrigued by the layered mysteries of the Breach and what's beyond, and I can't wait to hear where the Breachers' adventures take them next.
So addictive! An amazing cast with spooky stories of how each character wound up at the mysterious and fascinating Vincula. The world building and creature profiles are fantastic. I loved the descriptions of everything encountered. Super high stakes and you never know who is going to make it out okay in any given situation. Excellent sound design, story, writing, and acting.
If you’re into world-building or creatures or found family or mysterious organizations or huge discoveries or awesome characters or spooky music or adventuring or nihilism or weird things you can’t explain or facing fears or finding beauty in horror…… please give Syntax a shot. Season two is about halfway through right now and I eagerly await each new episode. I’m surprised by the amount of negative reviews, don’t let those make your decision for you! Love this show
The premise of the podcast is good, but there is almost no action or suspense in the story line. I’ve given this podcast 12 episodes so far but it been one soliloquy after another with no real plot development. This is slow and plodding and doesn’t really seem to be building to anything.
