I cannot even begin to describe how much I enjoy listening to this podcast. I have been searching for a great podcast that covers the history of horror movies for a very long time. I was led to this podcast through a Reddit thread and was immediately hooked from the first episode. I love to build plastic model kits and this is the only thing I listen to while I’m building. The amount of depth and detail that go into covering each of the movies was exactly what I was looking for. I’m dreading the day when I find myself caught up to the current episode because I won’t be able to binge it anymore.

My love of horror films was born during my grade school years, watching Creature Features on Saturday nights on WGN in Chicago, oblivious to any deep psychological motivation/explanation. Thinking/reading more deeply about film in general, including horror, through my ensuing decades of cinephilia, I must say, LOVE this podcast! EOH is a marvelous contribution to film/horror “studies”: serious, methodical, wide and deep, all while on a seemingly simple conversational level. And, very excited that my copy of Mary Wild’s Psycoanalysing Horror Cinema arrived today. Just as Stanley Cavell brought philosophy to bear on cinema studies, or should I say conversations, as much of his writing originated in lectures and he championed the “typical” as much as the “esoteric”, Wild’s contributions in her Wild About Horror segments raise things even a notch or two higher, bringing psychology to bear in very rewarding way in considerations of a genre that obviously deserves more serious thought than it has previously gotten. And, though Wild is brilliant, all of Mike Muncer’s guests contribute enormously to this discussion. Cheers, Mike and company!
