The Death Readiness Podcast: Not your dad’s estate planning podcast

by Jill Mastroianni - Estate Planning & Probate Attorney/Lawyer for Women

You’re the one prepping for your child’s IEP meeting while trying to talk your aging dad out of getting a puppy. You’re booking medical appointments, managing the money, juggling work emails during school pickup and still expected to keep the fridge stocked and know who has practice, rehearsal, or a field trip tomorrow. Your parents are struggling, but they still insist they’re fine. You see the mobility issues, the memory slips, the unopened mail, but every offer to help feels like an argument. You’re scared to push. You’re scared to wait. And there’s no clear roadmap for how to do any of this without losing your mind or your family. Hosted by Jill Mastroianni, an estate planning and probate attorney and trusted guide for women holding it all together, this podcast is your space to untangle the mess. With more than a decade of legal experience, Jill brings clarity to the hardest conversations most families avoid until it’s too late. Each episode offers honest stories, practical tools, and bite-sized steps you can actually take, even if you’re overwhelmed, even if you’re grieving, even if you’re still waiting for your mom to give you the password to the computer. You don’t need a perfect plan. You just need a place to start. Death readiness isn’t about control. It’s about love and the courage to face what’s next with open eyes and a steady hand.

What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

As someone managing two divorced, aging parents who have done no more than a simple will, it is a real mountain to climb! I wish that I had known about this podcast earlier! Mom’s planning is mostly done, and now I’m working with my Dad. I’m also doing my own planning so that my two children don’t have to worry about all this stuff when my decline begins or if I pass away unexpectedly. Thank you Jill!

I thought I knew everything I needed to know about estate planning, but I was wrong. I love how Jill explains everything in such an accessible way. I’ve shared her podcast with my adult children, who love it, too. It’s been a great way for us to engage in family conversations about death and incapacity.

Carmen0919 · Jul 2025

Like everyone, I’ve been busy and I’ve been overwhelmed. And estate planning has been on the back burner. Jill articulates the questions I have and answers them in a way that’s both relatable and practical. I recommend this podcast to anyone who wants to learn more about end of life and estate planning with a guide who is both empathetic and insightful.

HalJeremy5 · Jul 2025

I’ve realized I’ve been carrying a lot when it comes to taking care of my family and figuring out all the “what if” plans for the future. It can feel pretty heavy and honestly, a little lonely sometimes. This podcast has made me feel so much more ready and supported. It’s easy to follow, super helpful, and packed with real advice I can actually use. I’d absolutely recommend it to other women who are trying to figure all this out. It’s a great reminder that what we’re doing matters, and how we feel along the way matters too.
