Already my favorite podcast of all time! Every story is so fresh and interesting. It’s all the stuff you’ve never heard of but wish you had. Look, there are enough podcasts about World War II and Abraham Lincoln in the world. What about the rest of the (weird, fascinating, amazing) people who have ever lived? That’s The Constant. It’s funny, bingeable, super well-written and researched, and full of heart. Every episode is a banger. (The most recent one “It’s Never Over” was one of the best ever.) Mark Chrisler is a treasure to humanity. Listen and subscribe!

I checked out this cast after hearing it referenced in an episode of “Our Fake History” and am glad I did. Mark is entertaining and knowledgeable while serving up a healthy dose of sarcasm. If you’re a fan of OFH or “Hardcore History”, check this show out!

The presenter is very erudite, a great writer, and has a good sense of humor and comedic timing.

I would invite the listener to listen to any of the episodes before “The Foolkiller”. Everything before that was pretty top notch. Everything was tight.”

Episodes since then suffer from - higher production values? Lots of audio effects and musical interludes that don’t justify the time spent.

Love this show - the topics, the asides, the extra tidbits. Just wish there were more frequent episodes, even if they were a bit shorter.

This is normally something I’d like but the way it’s presented is off putting. I listened to an episode on another podcast and I had to stop midway through because the arrogance was off the charts and logical fallacies abounded. The unfortunate episode in question was whether whales are fish. The host spends an inordinate amount of time time hating on Aristotle because he thinks he’s superior without seeming to realize Aristotle didn’t have access to the internet and the collective wisdom of OTHER PEOPLE. It’s very easy to draw conclusions in hindsight. I also find it very perplexing that he attempts to imply that Aristotle is wrong when he wasn’t, whales aren’t fish they’re marine mammals. Or that because Aristotle was wrong about other things that somehow makes him wrong about this? That’s not the way that works, you can simultaneously be wrong about one thing and right about another. I kept waiting for him to get to the point but apparently we had to go through every other historical figures attempt at classification and his hindsight opinions on the matter before getting to that and I just didn’t have the patience for it. Apparently a lot of people like their “history” with a lot of opinion and atrocious jokes but that’s going to be a hard pass for me.

I like the idea of this podcast and it has potential as well as a couple decent episodes, but the cussing and the snobby liberal perspective get old fast. In a world where cussing is normalized it still comes across as shallow and unprofessional and don’t get me started on the liberal mumbo jumbo. Do without these and you will have an avid listener.
