by J.D. Greear
Every sermon starts with more than can fit into a message. For years, Pastor J.D. Greear has filled his sermon notes with extra illustrations, questions, insights, and rabbit trails that never made it into the final sermon. He calls that section of his notes “the bullpen.” Now, those ideas are coming out of the bullpen. In each episode, J.D. sits down with a few others to unpack a recent message, go deeper into Scripture, wrestle with difficult questions, and explore implications there wasn’t time to address from the pulpit. Along the way, they’ll also tackle important issues and questions happening in the world through the lens of biblical wisdom. No scripts. No polished talking points. Just honest, free-flowing conversations about Scripture, the gospel, and how they apply to real life. The Bullpen is a resource from J.D. Greear Ministries designed to help you go deeper in your understanding and love of the gospel.

Very helpful answers and explanations to some of the biggest questions about the Christian faith. Easy to understand and reshaped the way I think I about somethings. I feel more confident in my faith, who God is and my ability to share these things with others after listening. Definitely worth your time! The interviews with other leaders were super insightful too.
JD provides a balanced approach, supported by deep understanding scripture in today’s context! He hits on many topics that are not regularly discussed in the church.
JD Greear answers the questions you never thought to ask. Always encouraging and insightful to hear the gospel perspective.
JD is very candid and helpful in these podcasts. Sometimes I almost feel like he is reading my emails and texts! Great listening!!
JD stays silent (or is at least underspoken) on many of these topics in his sermons. That suits his purposes to advocate for Christianity, even if it supports Christian Nationalism. His approach of speaking in a thoughtful and reasonable manner is compelling for many, but frankly it’s a sales approach that has been effective for him. He is good at strengthening your faith, even if there is more evidence against that faith than for it.
