I only listened to one episode and that told everything I need to know about Josh Howerton. “Should Christians VOTE for ‘Character’ or ‘Policy’?” The message beneath the surface is unmistakable: political outcomes matter more than integrity. History is painfully clear about what happens when we excuse a leader’s corruption: • A man who lies in private will lie in public. • Personal corruption always becomes public corruption. • When leaders cut corners, followers learn to do the same. • Without trust, even the “best” policies collapse. These aren’t abstract ideas. They are predictable outcomes;
i don’t understand how you can say “everybody is welcome here,” and “we want you here!” yet still make rude little jabs and remarks at people/groups you don’t support. josh literally said that god even loves “transgendered furries that (something) lesbian cats.” and then the whole church laughed. it’s not funny. imagine that being your first time at church and you are willing to give it a shot. however, when you go, the pastor makes a rude “joke” about a part of your identity and the room full of hundreds of people laugh. it feels like hundreds of people are laughing at YOU. do you think they want to come back after that? NO. and the blatant sexism is insane. the saying, “your wife can be a cap or cannon for her husband,” is just insensitive. i’m not your personal cheerleader. who’s going to be my cap or cannon? and saying that all women are inherently manipulative, and even refusing to have sex after an argument, counts as manipulation is absolutely insane. saying that refusing sex after an argument is manipulation, is also manipulation in itself. if somebody doesn’t give consent, that’s it. end of story. who wants to be intimate after an argument? also, talking about how “jesus would vote” isn’t okay. it’s literally politics disguised as religion, and is so manipulative. it’s also obvious who josh is voting for. he’s said something about being invited by trump to something, during a podcast episode. overall, this whole church has a victim mindset and talks about how “it’s not cool to be a christian nowadays,” but as somebody who used to be christian, and now isn’t (partially due to listening to this church’s messages), i’ll tell you it’s so much harder to NOT be Christian. christian’s aren’t oppressed. just because you don’t believe you should do something (like being transgender), doesn’t mean i shouldn’t be able to. stay in your own lane, please.
