Love this “no fuss, no frills” podcast for morning and evening prayer. I am new to praying with a prayer book and reading from a lectionary and this podcast has made it much easier to use.
There is great strength found in joining with saints through the ages and around the globe in uttering these prayers and hearing the sacred Scriptures. At the times of day (morning and evening) when other distractions fight to crowd in, using a ritual such as this to quiet our hearts and point our eyes to Heaven has been a sacred habit for centuries. I have been a subscriber to The Daily Office podcast for many years. At times, this twice-daily podcast was all I could muster to feed myself—and how grateful I was for the Spiritual enrichment it provided. (I often recommend this to new moms in those early postpartum days when rituals are often overthrown and finding a quiet routine can be so difficult.) Many a sleepless night, I have played these on repeat. Other times, this podcast is just one of many daily spiritual habits. Regardless, it has always served the same purpose: starting and ending my day drawing near to Christ—hearing the Word and joining with the prayers of the saints. *I am actually Lutheran and searched long and hard to find a similar podcast using our Treasury of Daily Prayer. Though the BCP lectionary doesn’t exactly align with ours and some of the wording of the prayers is a bit different, the heart of it all is the same. I highly recommend this podcast—this daily practice—to all Christians. Soli Deo Gloria.
Andrew provides helpful companionship and accountability in attending to the daily office through this podcast. The format is helpful especially if you travel often and may not have taken note of each reading and prayer for the day.
This podcast is so immensely helpful. As someone new to the prayer book tradition, it is so great to have someone guiding me through while I read. There are not really any morning prayer services near me so this beats praying alone. Thank you for making this available.
