Duran talks too often without adding substantive value. He repeats what players are saying but we want to hear the players, not him. There are episodes where Caro and the guest are gelling on a topic and Duran jumps in and derails the flow. He also makes a point of using profanity, maybe to try to build more credibility and connect in a more meaningful way with guests, because he doesn’t have the credentials. It comes across as someone trying too hard but the main issue here is that it will unnecessarily limit the reach of the podcast. Younger listeners want to hear more about these players and their experiences. Profanity adds no value for listeners. Also, fix the sound editing! Some speakers are too quiet and too loud in the same podcast.

The audience is really keen to listen to the guest, but Duran always interrupts and is overeager to offer his own insights. On the other hand, Caro is great. She listens to the guest, is patient, and intervenes with relevant personal anecdotes.

As a tennis fan I love the variety of podcasts that are available. This one I especially like for getting to know players and coaches on a deeper and more personal level. Caroline and her husband, Borja, have a natural, easy way of interviewing their guests. The conversations flow very naturally. I’m often surprised how open guests have been in sharing their on-court and off-court lives with us. This is very special. I would also love to hear from some of the tennis chair umpires. They have a such a unique lifestyle and role in tennis. It would be fun and insightful to hear some of their stories. Thank you so much Caroline and Borja. Fun fact - we once sat in the bleachers right beside your dad during one of your matches in Cincinnati.

Great podcasts, great guests, very cute couple. Carol is wonderful! Duran is a great guy. I have one very minor criticism for him. He needs to improve his podcast interview technique. He asks good questions, but he has a tendency to re-word the guest’s answers and ask them to confirm his interpretation of the answer and topic. That’s fine communication in a private conversation or in a classroom. But it not good form as an interviewer. It causes him to talk too much (we want to hear the guest) and reinterpret his guest’s answer. He does this far more often with female guests. Let the guest answer and have the final word on each question, even if you wish to say more. Save your reflections for after the interview.

I really wanted to love this as a tennis fan, but somehow even the most dynamic and exciting players were interviewed in a way that limited their personalities. As a huge Ons and Monfils fan, I think both of their interviews did a huge disservice to them. The questions weren’t particularly thought -provoking and left little room for candid exchange. I’m not familiar with the host, but I think a change there could really elevate this.
