This is an incredibly powerful series. Gripping, horrifying, and extremely well told. It’s a story of bravery and depravity; the unimaginable and yet real. It’s so important that stories like Ruth’s are heard. Thank you Catrin for telling it so well.

It’s been 24 hours since I finished listening, and I’m still thinking about this series. It is a shocking story that brings up questions of choice and consent. It’s a difficult and delicate topic, but this was incredibly narrated and written. I just hope Ruth gets some peace and justice.

I did find this pod a bit disjointed and somewhat repetitive. And, had a difficult time fully relating to Ruth’s story. But I think it’s literally impossible for many of us to have walked in her shoes because her experience was both so unique and frightening. My first thought about the it was, “OK I don’t want any more ‘me too’.” But then I realized it’s about so much more than that. It deeply moving and well produced. Highly recommend!

What's being reported here is real. I wish that coercive control were considered a crime here in the US as it is in the UK. Immediately after marrying, my husband exhibited angry and controlling behavior. He became unreasonably jealous, and at the same time suggested that I invite another man into our bedroom. Instead of trying to please him about this, I said that no, I wasn't interested in doing that.
But, I tried to please
him in many other ways that made me uncomfortable and even sometimes afraid. I can easily understand how a woman could be drawn into this situation. Thank you for bringing this to light.
