Scott & Cam do a wonderful job reviewing the greatest film genre: spy movies. They also have amazing interviews with some of the all time greats: Nicholas Meyer, Phil Alden Robinson, Shane Black, and Andy Davis . Also check out the Jeff Kleeman interview a BTS look at the Pierce Brosnan Bond erac and the two of the writers of GoldenEye (Jeffrey Caine and Bruce Feinstein).
The depth of knowledge and enthusiasm for film from Cam and Scott contributed to spyhards becoming my favorite podcast. This is a must listen for any movie fans. They have introduced me to some of my new favorites such as the “liquidator” and “the falcon and the snowman.” I will subscribe to horsehards the minute it’s released.
I’ve listened to this show for years. I’m a huge Mission Impossible fan, and I’ve discovered a lot of new movies that I otherwise would not know about. And they give great code names.
SpyHards Podcast is, without a doubt, the best espionage movie podcast to ever exist. They not only cover every inch of, admittedly, a pretty niche corner of film, but they do so well. They go in depth about the cast, crew, and pre-and-post production of the film the episode is reviewing. They talk about the film’s themes, technical aspects, and performances on and off the camera. Cam always does a great job of providing context for the film too. He explains the landscape of film at the time, comparing and contrasting the subject film against its contemporaries and competitors whether they’re in the spy genre or not. Like all good spies, they leave no stone unturned and no document un-scanned. They also deliver wonderful interviews with cast and crew from the films they cover, including directors and actors from the James Bond franchise (THEY GOT DENISE RICHARDS GUYS!) For these reasons, I would say that on top of being the best espionage film podcast, SpyHards is ALSO one of the best film podcasts ever of any genre. I do not say this lightly, but SpyHards’ catalogue of work speaks for itself. They don’t need me to say it. Agent Scott, Cam The Provocateur… keep up the fight against S.P.E.C.T.R.E, H.A.R.M and all of the other acronym villainous agencies out there.
