As a CIO, I have tried multiple podcasts covering cyber security. Some cover the news, some cover large enterprises, some are very detailed. But the one I routinely have listened to for over 1000 episodes is Security Now. It a mix of news, deep dives on technology, listener questions and best practices. Always informative and interesting with a good mix of humor.

I’m a PhD student in computer science with a focus on security and AI and I love listening to these folks! It cracks me up every time they mention Steve Bellovin because he’s one of my professors. They have a lovely mix of technical deep dives and discussions about currently problematic vulnerabilities and even cover the impact of regulations on cybersecurity.

The effusive and unending AI praise is grating and embarrassing for someone I want to be able to trust as being level-headed and thoughtful about the technology landscape. I’m willing to tolerate it but no longer than two minutes per episode please. With all the other noisy sources out there glazing AI, that’s the last thing I want to hear about when I’m trying to get my security news. Otherwise it’s a decent podcast, but I have had to stop listening.

I tried several episodes but the host just reads entire articles verbatim. It’s SO painful to listen to. I love other TWiT podcasts but this one needs a new host that knows how to discuss instead of just reading.
