I started listening to this pod a few months ago, and was at first unsure of the format. I was so invested in “the list” that I was fast forwarding the intros and discussions, and was often left disappointed when my favorites were snubbed. But the more I listened, the more I started to enjoy every hilarious retelling of childhood memory or prolonged back and forth about the virtues of Start Trek V. By the time I was screaming in my car about the ridiculously perfectly chaotic 80s fantasy draft, I was hooked. I have agreed with the final list approximately zero times, but the journey to get there is always one hell of a ride.

Maybe the idea of 3-5+ hour long episodes scares you. Don’t be deterred. Scroll through the episode titles and pick a draft that appeals to you. It’s a bunch of smart film enthusiasts/experts talking eloquently and passionately about movies. It never gets old. Screen Drafts fixes all your long drive, boring housework problems. You’ll start to wonder why the hosts of your other favorite podcasts wimp out at 45 minutes or whatever.

Most shows have a preamble but this one really irks me. Instead of just launching into the game, we have to indulge in a lot of pre show “entertainment” that adds little to nothing. If this podcast just started the game right at the top, it would be a vast improvement. The game itself, been done before like on The Big Picture and Filmspotting but this one allows for guests to go on extended rants. Love the idea but sometimes the execution is sloppy depending on who is on and what the subject is. Has potential to be great but comes up short.
